Unity Goes To The Movies Hosted By Rod Kennedy: The Thomas Crown Affair
Sunday, January 20, 2019
Starring Pierce Brosnan & Renee Russo
A remake of the 1968 Steve McQueen film, The Thomas Crown Affair features Pierce Brosnan as the title character – a bored billionaire businessman in the business of “acquisitions”. For a thrill, he heists an extremely valuable Monet from the Met right under the noses of security guards, cops, and about a thousand unsuspecting museumgoers. Renee Russo is the very sexy, very worldly Catherine Banning, whose insurance company underwrites the painting – and she is determined to get it back at any cost… but the cost just may be her soul as she woos, and then falls under the spell of the enigmatic Crown.
Run Time: 2h 14min
Followed by a discussion of the film and Unity principles.
Unity Goes to the Movies was begun in April 2011 at The Unity Center of New York City for the purpose of showing movies that illustrate life lessons and instruct. It is hosted by Rod Kennedy who selects films that are drawn from the opus of movies made in Hollywood over the years that have come to influence and define our culture.
Much like the stories that were incorporated into the Bible, some of these movies are modern teachable moments about every day life that can instruct us on our spiritual path. After each movie, Mr. Kennedy hosts a discussion where everyone gets a chance to offer his or her insights and comment about the film.
